Marketing And Advertising Your Tanning Salon

May 9th, 2008

In order to guarantee your success in the tanning business you must have solid marketing and advertising plans. This will also be a very big part of whether or not your business is able to obtain the funding required from investors if this is how you plan to fund your new business.

Our first recommendation is starting a website. Based on your budget, this doesn’t have to be anything fancy. The website should have your logo, mapped directions to your location, phone number, and any current promotions you are running. Be sure to list the state, county, and surrounding cities in text on your website as well as all services and products you offer. Submitting this website to search engines will be beneficial and in time may bring leads for your business. If you’re interested in perfecting this aspect of your business you should research search engine optimization and search engine marketing.

Second, you will want your business listed in the yellow pages and any popular local classified ads. Make sure you purchase a larger ad than just a listing if your advertisement budget allows you too. Larger advertisements always attract more attention. Your ad should focus on why customers should immediately choose your salon over the other ones listed in the same area or perhaps even offer a coupon of substantial value. Remember, if someone feels comfortable tanning at your salon they will return.

Radio advertisement is also an excellent way to increase the popularity. Whether you are purchasing a commercial or actually have the radio station broadcast from your location you will be instantly reaching thousands of listeners. This is often much cheaper than television advertisement and truly reaches people in your community.

Making arrangements with local businesses is a great way to network. Small shops often place each other’s flyers or advertisements on each other’s sales counters to share their wealth of traffic. As long as you don’t sell the same service or products there can be no harm in advertising with each other. If your business neighbors are friendly speak with management and see if this can be arranged.

During a grand opening it is often cost effective to flyer local subdivisions to try to jumpstart the business. Aside from the cost of paper and ink, a little leg work can definitely generate some business and open people’s eyes to how convenient the distance to your location is.

Each of the methods detailed in this article should be locally priced and researched to make sure it is cost effective for your tanning salon and has an acceptable return on investment. Prior to your business opening, your business you should have many ideas in place.

Making Money with AdWords and AdSense

May 9th, 2008

It is possible to make money with AdWords and Adsense. Lots of people do. But how? You could buy one or more of the guides to making money with AdWords and Adsense on Ebay or from various flashy looking websites. Most of them are overpriced nonsense.

Some of them offer incorrect information, some of them are flatly immoral in the techniques they suggest, while a few offer one or two useful tips - which are usually available on the net for free if you know where to look.

Here a few tips on getting the best ad spots.

How to pay less for the traffic you need, which means more money in your pocket.

Success with AdWords

Getting the Best Ad Spots 1

The ‘hot spot’ for high click-through rates (and this is what you want - people coming to your site) is the top three positions - either in the organic results or the sponsored results.

In the sponsored results it doesn’t seem to make any difference whether you are number one, two or three. So for high click-through rates, you need to get into the top three. To make money you need to do this as cheaply as you can.

The first way to do this is to bid on key words relevant to your business, but for which there is not much competition. So for a store selling horse feed in Jacksonville, Ohio, you might have to pay 97c to get a top three spot for the phrase ‘horse feed’. That would soon add up, and many of the people who clicked on that general phrase would not buy from your local business. Most of your customers are going to come from Jacksonville, or at least Ohio.

A top three spot for a general match to ‘horse feed Ohio’ might only cost you 19c. A top three spot for a general match to ‘horse feed Jacksonville Ohio’ might only cost 7c, and your conversion rate (the percentage of people who click on your ad and then buy from you) will be higher.

These longer, very specific keyword phrases are sometimes called ‘longtail’ keywords, and they can be very profitable. In particular niches (a phrase for a very narrow or specific market) there is often little competition for keywords, and people who enter these phrases are telling you very clearly exactly what they want. If you can meet their needs, your chances of getting a sale from people entering your longtail keywords as search terms is high.

Success with AdWords

Getting the Best Ad Spots 2

Pay the least you can to get into the top three. Obvious, really. But how?

Unfortunately Google doesn’t tell you how much your competitors are paying for their clicks. There are various ‘bid management’ systems which will charge from $25 a month to track your keywords. Don’t bother, unless you are a large company with a massive budget and you just can’t keep track of your ad campaigns.

There are also programs which claim to provide detailed information about keyword popularity, competitor bid levels, etc. Probably the best known of these is Key Word Elite. I would love to have advertised that product on my site. It pays affiliates $93 per sale! Then I tried it. I found it clunky and confusing, and its results were only intermittently more useful than Google and Overture’s free tools.

Even though Google doesn’t tell you what competitors are paying, it does tell you when your bid is enough to get into the top three. When you set up your adwords campaign, the keywords traffic estimates page will tell you (roughly) where your ad will be positioned - eg 1-3, 4-6, etc. For example, a bid of just 20c will get you a 4-6 position for the phrase ‘computer parts’.

But you want to get into the top three. Try increasing your bid to 85c (just a guess at this stage). Yes! This will get you a top three result. Google also tells you your actual cost will be between 52c and 78c.

Now go back and enter a bid of 53c. Click ‘Re-estimate traffic.’ Still yes! This bid will get you a position between 1 and 3, and at a cost of between 32c and 53c.

This means you are in the top three at perhaps half the price you might otherwise have paid. This process takes a little time, but truly, if you want to be a success, you have to be prepared to put both time and thought into your business.

Remember you don’t always pay your maximum bid - only what you need to beat the person next in line (like Ebay). If you put some thought into it, you may be able to come up with other ways to use this fact to your advantage!

Because effective advertising is essential to the success of your business, you should check your advertising campaign at least daily. Your competitors will be doing this (or you should assume they will be!) and bids can change frequently.

You also need to check which keywords and ads are working for you. Keep the ones that are, make small changes, one thing at a time, to the ones that aren’t. Check whether those changes have made a difference. Test everything! What brings more clicks? What brings more sales? It will take a little time, but you will gradually build up an arsenal of highly effective and efficient (ie money-making) ads and keywords.

Did You go Broke with Google AdWords?

May 9th, 2008

Many people marketing a business on the Internet heard of Google AdWords at one point or another. You can do certain things to make Adwords profitable. Consequently, you can nearly lose your shirt as well if you lack a solid understanding of AdWords & how it really works.

Google is all about relevancy. Google places a huge emphasis on this for their users and this is a key central concept in understanding.

You can avoid getting charged $5 or $10 bucks for a click if you take some precautionary but often necessary steps.

1. Create an ad campaign that closely matches similar keywords.

For example, you sell dog grooming hair brushes.

Your initial thought may be to bid on keywords like “pet” and “pet supplies.” Google considers these as general keywords. People looking for dog grooming hair brushes will not most likely look for “pet supplies.”

The person looking for dog grooming hair brush already knows what he or she wants. You want your ad to target that person directly and your conversation rates will increase.

Group and bid on keywords like “dog grooming supplies,” “dog grooming brushes,” and “dog grooming hair brushes.” Each of these keyword phrases has one thing in common: the phrase “dog grooming.” These are relevant. Make sure each keyword in each ad group has one common word or phrase.

2. Make sure the body copy contains keywords.

When you write the actual copy for your ads, you need to have the keywords you bid on written into the ad.

This helps driver laser focused traffic to your site, Google rewords you by having a higher position for lower cost, your ad is shown more and you please the Google users because you provide exactly what they are looking for.

(Hint: The name of the game is relevancy).

3. Put your keyword in the Adwords ad headline, body and display URL address.

When someone searches for a specific keyword, all the listings that contain that keyword, wehther it is in the metatags, in the name of the web address or in the headline, are bolded to make it stand out to the searcher.

In this way, everyone wins. The user gets exactly what they searched for. Google wins because that user will return again due to his satisfaction. And ultimately, you benefit from it because you potentially gained a new subscriber or customer and that means cash in your pocket in the end.

4. Create a landing page for each keyword you bid on.

One of the tricks to getting higher relevancy and higher quality scores in Google’s mind is to drive traffic to very specific landing pages.

Each keyword you bid on should be slightly altered so when someone clicks on your ad, they still see the same keyword or something very similar to it in the headline and in the body of your copy on your website.

For example, you search for “dog trainers in Seattle.” You see an ad that says “Dog Trainers in Seattle.” You think to yourself this is exactly what you wanted. You click on the ad to go to the website.

The first thing you read on the web site is “3 Dog Trainers In Seattle Reveal Shocking Secrets that Show You How You Can Fix The Top 10 Most Common Dog Problems Without Having To Pay $1000s In Consultation Fees…All From The Comfort Of Your Own Home.”

This website tells you exactly what you are looking for. Fido has some problem you want to fix but yet you are on a budget. And you want someone you can go to locally, not someone who is based out of Atlanta, Georgia.

Marketing Your Great Idea - It Isn’t Magic - It’s Marketing

May 8th, 2008

How many times have some entrepreneurs succeed with their idea while others with the same idea have failed? The reason why some ideas spread How many great ideas don’t get anywhere because no one hears about them? like wild fire and others die like a candle in the wind is simple-MARKETING! The marketing strategies and decisions you make will determine the success and lifespan of your product or idea. Today’s marketplace offers more marketing solutions than ever before but finding the right marketing solutions can be more complex than in the past.

You have finally found your niche. You have arrived at that great idea and researched it and fine tuned it and now you are ready to spread the word. The days when word of mouth could turn your great idea into a profitable product are gone. True, initially, word of mouth helps you refine your niche by obtaining feedback but to truly break into a market that is bursting with new concepts everyday it takes planning and market savvy.

The internet offers one of the biggest and most accessible venues to market your concept. But entering into the world of high-tech advertising and marketing is not as easy as it may seem. Casting a wide net can get you lost in the catch and it is important to direct your marketing resources where they will do you the most good.

After all, millions of concepts and products are introduced into the market everyday and you want yours to stand out from the fray. Marketing through the Internet is your best chance to reach your target population and create excitement about your idea. The first decision facing you is finding a home for your product on the Internet through a Web site. Remember that your product will be judged and evaluated by the substance and appearance of your Web site and it is worthy of careful planning and design. This is the first step you will take in your marketing strategy.

Don’t be afraid to outsource this aspect of your marketing plan because the stakes at this stage are very high. A poorly designed Web site is a sure path to failure. There are many highly professional technicians who can design a Web site that will attract customers and inspire them to learn more about you and your concept. This does require an investment but if your marketing dollars are tight, make Web site development a priority. You can keep costs low by limiting costly add-ons like sound and focusing on simple graphics and top quality Web content. The wording you will use forms the substance of your Web site and many small business advisory companies offer low cost Web content services that will ensure that not only does your message and vision come across but they do so with style and panache.

Taking marketing planning one step at a time is the best way to approach an intimidating task. The key is to focus on marketing itself and make it your number one priority. Waiting for word of mouth to bring customers to your door is unrealistic and limiting. Your idea can revolutionize an industry but only if the right people discover it. Taking the first step in forming a marketing strategy by setting up a Web site can be the start of a great idea becoming a great solution. Your proactive approach in going after the customers you need is the difference between a shout and a whisper in the marketplace. Make sure that your shout is the one everyone hears above the noise and commotion of a busy and crowded world. When your voice is the loudest and most articulate sound in the marketplace, your great idea will become the solution that people have been waiting for.

Affiliate Marketing - The Importance Of Focusing On One Affiliate Program

May 8th, 2008

One of the biggest mistakes that most affiliate marketer make is not focusing on one affiliate program. Since there are many affiliate programs that are free to join, some people will feel that there is nothing to lose and there is nothing wrong in joining many affiliate programs. This is not totally true.

You will need to realize that if you join too many affiliate programs, you will not be fully focus on maximizing the full potential that each program can bring to you. For example, if you are promoting 10 products, you will only be able to put in 10% of your focus on promoting each of the products. You will not get much result when you only put in 10% of your effort in promoting the product.

But if you put in 100% of your focus on promoting one affiliate product at a time, you will definitely see much better results as you have full maximized the full potential that the program has to offer. Once you have maximized the full potential of one affiliate product, you can go on to the put in 100% of your effort again on the 2nd product. This will ensure that there is consistency.

Please take note that affiliate marketing is a real business and it will take time to grow. It is better to go through a slow and steady path than to go through the fast and unsteady. Always remember the power on focusing doing one thing at a time, be consistent, be patient and you will be able to reach the business success that you largely deserved.

Email Marketing - 5 Ways To Maximize Your Backend Income

May 8th, 2008

Your main goal when building an email list is to make a profit. Sure, building a relationship with your subscribers is key, but at the end of the day, when you build a list, you are really building a business, not a charity.

Email marketing is one of the top ways to create a really huge backend income.

So here are 5 ways to maximize your backend income:

1. Offer Free Reports

Did I just mention that your business wasn’t a charity? Yes, it isn’t! But giving away free reports is a great way to build a relationship with your subscribers, so they will be more reciprocative to your future offers.

2. Offer Free Audio Recordings

An audio recording is really great for building trust, because now your subscribers can hear your voice and that takes the relationship to another level.

3. Do Ad Swaps

Find other list owners in your niche market and offer to advertise their opt-in list to your list, provided they do the same! This is an awesome way to build a massive list fast.

4. Offer Affiliate Products

Affiliate marketing is one way to leverage email marketing. What you can do is find related affiliate products and offer them to your list. But remember not to sell too often or you’ll receive tons of unsubscribes!

5. Offer A Coaching Program

A coaching program is the ultimate in maximizing your backend income. You can easily charge a few thousand dollars for your coaching program if you have the expertise and you can impart your knowledge well. Imagine if you have just 2 customers who pay you $3,000 to coach them, that’s $6,000 in the pocket!

Secrets To Avoid The Google Slap

May 7th, 2008

Have you recently been slapped by Google and been shocked that some of your bid prices have risen as high as ten dollars a click. Google has been making changes to its algorithms and you may have found it very difficult to use Google Adwords and actually generate profits. The web sites that have been hit the hardest are Adsense web sites, affiliate sites, one page sales letter sites and landing pages. Google Adwords may seem like a mystery. However if you know how to fix it you can continue using Google Adwords. Also adverts going to large web sites with lots of quality content have been unaffected.

Now let us look at what Google actually wants and the reasons that they have implemented this Google slap that actually can drive many Google Adwords advertisers to other search engines. According to Google they have received many complaints from users about their experience and this is the reason driving the changes. The main offenders are landing pages, sales letters and web sites that have too similar content with too many adverts. If your web site does not fall into the above categories it is unlikely that you will be affected.

I am going to go through some steps you can take to improve your quality score on the affected pages and help reduce your advertising bids. You need to make sure that your sponsored adverts can be separated from your normal content. Blending your adverts with your content does help to improve your click through rates, but Google wants you to distinguish the adverts. If you require a user to register for example submit their email address to gain access to your information this is going against the Google guidelines and you need to at least provide a preview of what they will receive. You need to provide pages that provide substantial and useful content to your web site users. This is largely a problem for Google Adsense arbitrage sites. Once you have applied these tips you need to include the keywords that you are targeting in the title and header tags and between two and five percent in the body. Also if you put your landing or squeeze pages up on a large web site with lots of good quality content pages and a good page rank the quality score of the web site will boost your landing page score.

Once you have applied these changes to your web sites to avoid the Google slap they will have a significant impact on your business.

A SEO Firm Can Get Traffic To Your Website

May 7th, 2008

As communication takes on new dimensions the advertisers and consumers have moved from the traditional mediums of print and television to the comparatively new medium of World Wide Web. Now more and more businesses are being conducted online and the ever increasing number of internet users creates a need for methods and means to bring the advertisers website into focus. The specialized knowledge of ensuring a website ranks high on the search engines and tops the popularity list of users is available only with a competent SEO firm. A SEO firm can expertly analyze the needs of a website and enhance the strengths while eliminating the weakness of the website. Planned strategies are drawn by a SEO firm to ensure the online site achieves the maximum exposure among the users.

Search engine optimization or SEO as we know it is the process of implementing various strategies to ensure a high ranking for a website in the popular search engines like Google and Yahoo. A SEO firm will employ methods like posting keyword heavy articles, press releases, participating in forum discussions, link building exercises, article syndication and so on to ensure maximum visibility for the website. Also processes adopted by a SEO firm which include like keyword heavy articles posted in common platforms will ensure that the search engine spiders can easily crawl through the website. This enables the search engines to give a high ranking to the SEO firm client and brings a high visibility to the client as well.

The professionals working in a SEO firm are well aware of the intricacies that are involved in promoting every clientâ??s website. As each site is individualistic, it varies from each other in terms of the product, features, styles, content and so on. The SEO firm will ensure that a professional design is given to the website to make it pleasing to the consumers. The SEO firm also ensures that the content for the website is relevant to the information seeker as otherwise the user will abandon the site once he has been directed to the site but does not find the content to be relevant to his search. A user does not have much time to spend on searching the site for necessary information unless he finds something relevant to him, instantly.

A SEO firm will therefore ensure that the website is made user friendly and the information presented on the site is relevant to the information seeker. The ease of navigation also plays a major role in determining the popularity of the website. Research proves that maximum drop-out rates happen because of difficulty in navigation and even poor readability. A SEO firm will take care of all these factors in an expert manner and create a website that is free from these common defects that can harm the online site. Hence it is imperative for any online site to hire the services of a competent SEO firm to ensure the popularity of the website among the internet users worldwide.

All about SEO or SFO?

May 6th, 2008

First let’s start with definitions:

SEO: Search Engine Optimization, SFO: Search Friendly Optimization.

These two things are what most webmasters have trouble balancing. These things seem to always be on opposite ends. On one hand you have to make sure search engines can crawl your website without any problems. On the other you have to keep the site looking good to keep your visitors.

These are all based on what kind of site you plan on making. A corporate website selling shoes in the real world might focus on keeping the site looking good to visitors. And maybe pack it up with flash and all kinds of descriptive images. On the other side a site about online products, e-commerce, might cut back on the images and focus on seo. I will go into both of these just in case.

Let’s start with seo. The first thing you need if you choose seo is to meta tags. Now there many meta tags generators out there for a quicker way to make them. But I suggest like me you make them yourself according to the search engines you want your site to better perform at. In short you have to study those search engines and find out how they get their content and what meta tags they require or may find usefull. Mine is based on google so check out the source of the blog and those are the tags that google uses.

Also a site that may help you out with your seo is: http://sitesubmit.ca/ they require you to be a member to use their tools but it’s worth plus it’s free. They have many seo tips and tools. In your reaserch of the search engine don’t forget ranking. Find out what they base their search results on and how they decide which results show up first when a user queries. Like google uses google googlerank and overall page rank. But you may hav eto increase your content on a subject in order to increase your keyword density and such.

Second sfo. SFO is fairly easy to accomplish once you have the right info. Like many sites they host regular polls and surveys about what users like and their personnal opinions. It’s an effective way of knowing your audience. Once you know most of your visitors like certain kinds of things you start providing them. Therefore pleasing your users and making a successful site. But never forget about the stalistics the users don’t need to tell you. Like what browsers usually visit your site and what operatinf systems they use. And as many webmasters know firefox and internet exploer(leading browsers) have different rendering engines. So find out which most of your users use and customize your site to it. Also if the stalistics show that they have just about equal users use what we a splash page. To allow the user to show which version of the site they want to view. Two versions of your site may be hard to keep up but remember it’s worth it. In one case one of my friends had to do four different versions. And keep them updated at the same time.

But also you may have to balance the two together if you want them both. Though it is hard it may be for the best.
