Pay Per Click Services - Which Work Best?

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Pay Per Click Services (PPC) has emerged as a highly effective advertising tool. Various search engines offer PPC marketing tools for advertisers, the most popular being Google Ad words and Overture. By using PPC servicesyou can target your services as per keyword or phase queried by surfers. You can also target your campaigns to a specific geographical area. For instance, you can target your ad only to ‘Accountants in Minnesota’. Customizing your advertising as per multiple parameters can bring in innumerable benefits to advertisers.

The success of any PPC management service campaign depends on the way it is designed. Selection of keywords, ad copy, location, and conversion management are the factors that affect the success of any pay per click campaign.

With pay-per-click service engines, you bid on keywords that describe your business, your products, or your target audience. Then, you’re charged your bid price every time someone clicks on your ad, which is displayed when a searcher types in the keyword you’ve chosen into the search box at an engine. Whoever is willing to pay the most for the keyword or keyword phrase will be at the top of the rankings.

There are many benefits to working with pay engines, which we’ll cover in this article.

Important Pay-Per-Click Service Engines and Directories Overture:

Overture is certainly the pay-per-click service engine that most people recognize. It’s also one of the most expensive and competitive.

However, the visibility of Overture is impressive, to say the least. It provides the top two or three results to “big boy” search engines and directories like Yahoo!, Lycos, HotBot, and MSN Search. In fact, Overture claims to reach 80% of all Internet users.

Overture listings are generally found at the top of the regular search results in an area called “Sponsored” results or sites.

Overture’s pay-per-clicks service operates under one premise: whoever has the deepest pockets and is willing to pay the most gets on top.

The minimum bid is $.10, and there’s a minimum charge of $20 per month. A $50 initial deposit is non-refundable and will be applied to click through or to the minimum monthly spend. When your account is depleted, they’ll contact you to see if you want to add additional funds to your budget.

Google AdWords

Google AdWords have fast become extremely important in the pay-per-click service arena, with results being shown at search engines like Google, AOL Search, Ask Jeeves, and Teoma.

Google AdWords operates differently than Overture in a number of ways. Your click-through rate and cost per click together determine where your ads are shown, so better ads rise to the top. That means no one can lock you out of the top position.

Google AdWords are shown on the right-hand side of regular search results in a Pink shaded area called “Sponsored Links.”

Because your click through rate has an influence on the placement of your AdWords ad, your ad’s title and description must be captivating and designed to pull in traffic.

With Google AdWords, there’s a $5 activation fee, and the minimum bid amount is $.05. You decide on the maximum cost per click that you’re willing to pay and set your daily budget. You don’t have to spend a certain amount per month, and you only pay for clicks you actually receive.

Find What

Another popular pay-per-click service engine that is generally much less expensive than Overture is FindWhat.

With FindWhat, whoever bids the most gets on top. The minimum bid is $.05, and they require a $25 minimum amount to open an account.

FindWhat provides results to 200 different partners, including many of the big meta engines like Dogpile.

Lycos Incite Ad Buyer

A fairly new pay-per-click service program that’s displayed on both Lycos and HotBot is Lycos InSite AdBuyer.

Again, it operates similarly to the way that Overture and FindWhat operate, with the top results being those who bid the most for their target keywords.

The minimum bid is $.05 with a $50 minimum to open an account.

Look Smart

Look Smart is a pay-per-click service directory where you pay a flat $.l5 per click through. It claims to reach 77% of the Internet users through the partners that display Look Smart results.

Some of those partners include MSN Search, About.com, Netscape, and AltaVista.

With Look Smart, you don’t bid for listings. Everyone pays a flat $.15 per click through, and your ranking is determined by how relevant your site is to the search term, according to Looks mart’s ranking criteria. To get started with a Look Smart listing, the initial investment is $29.

This comprehensive site lists over 500 different pay-per-click service search engines and offers individual reviews on many of them.

Real Estate Marketing for New Agents

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Expert marketing advice for new real estate agents:

When I talk to real estate agents who are new to the industry, one of the first questions they ask is, “How can I compete with veteran agents?” Or more specifically, “How should I conduct my real estate marketing program to compensate for my inexperience.”

My response: “Take experience out of the equation, and focus on lead generation.”

Remove Experience from the Equation

Veteran real estate agents were “newbies” at some point. They got past that stage, and so can you. In fact, everybody in the entire world has been new to something at least once in their life. We are new to elementary school, middle school and high school. We are new to the working world. We are new to people, places and social situations.

Everyone knows what it’s like to be the new guy or gal. So why sweat it?

As a real estate agent, you’ll find that most clients judge you by your knowledge, your personality and your professionalism. And here’s the good news — you can bring those things to work with you on Day 1.

Focus on Lead Generation

Some marketing “experts” will tell you to promote your brand and keep yourself “top of mind” with your prospect area. Those things are okay over the long-term. But if you’re relying on them to generate business in the short-term, you better have some living expenses tucked away. It’s going to be a long wait.

Here’s where you, as a new real estate agent, can actually outperform the veterans you’re up against. Build a better lead-generation program. Instead of relying too heavily on branding or top-of-mind awareness (secondary marketing strategies, by the way), focus on generating leads you can turn into clients.

Here are three specific ways to outperform the veterans in your area:

Be More Visible

Get yourself a website and start learning about search engine visibility. Search engines don’t care how long you’ve been in business or how many clients you have. They will rank a popular, well-optimized website over an older, more stagnant website much of the time.

Build a strong web presence, get some people linking to it, publish press releases and articles online, and you’ll make your website more visible to the search engines. See the resource mentioned at the end of this article for more.

Be More Proactive

Build an exclusive “must read” report around a hot topic in your area. Make it provocative and thought-provoking, not just another “Tips for Home Buyers.” Urban sprawl is a great example. If there’s development in your area, create a report along the lines of “How Urban Expansion Affects Your Property Values.”

Choose a topic that matches your audience (buyers, sellers, affluent, middle-class, etc.). Build a direct mail postcard campaign to promote the report. Send people to a web page where they can sign up for it with only an email address. Make it easy for them.

You’ve just built your first lead-generation program, and no experience is necessary!

Be More Creative

Why not partner up with a mortgage professional, a home inspector or both to launch a home-buying seminar series? Make it free, easy to sign up for, and fun! Come up with a creative angle for it, like “The Modern Real Estate Process” or “Mortgage 101 for the Mathematically Challenged.” Invite your local news to cover it (that’s the kind of thing they look for on slow news days).

Knock people’s socks off with the quality of your presentation and your enthusiasm. Give them your business card and other take-away items. Stick around afterward for questions and chit chat. There will be clients in that group, I guarantee it.

Conclusion

I spun off these ideas in the span of an hour. You might come up with a dozen more of your own. But let me ask you this — how many of the tactics outlined above require vast experience? That’s right, none of them. Be creative. Be proactive. Be enthusiastic and positive. Before you know it, you’ll be so busy you’ll forget how new you are.

Marketing - 3 Secrets to Leaving An Understandable Voice Mail Message

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

After my third attempt to de-code the phone number from my voice mail ? I gave up. Seems Frank Janson ? Johnson ? Jorson or something like that from some company in Mauzoula or Missouri wants me to call him back. His number is 636-6 something, four, 36 or maybe it??s 3 zero then 6, 8 then something. Whatever! Point is, I??m not calling him back. And if he ever does get a hold of me, I??ll be less than enthusiastic about dealing with him since he??s already wasted my time and caused me a fair amount of frustration by leaving a message I can??t understand. He has what I call a Verbal Legibility factor of zero.

Where I come from, the whole point of leaving a phone number is to make it easy for people to call you back. But too often, the person leaving the message is too bored, tired, lazy or in a hurry to put a cohesive, understandable sentence together. Or they try to be cute with the way they say 55 triple 4 oh 2. Is that 50 then 5 or is it 55? And by the way, it??s a zero not an “oh”.

If effectiveness suffers because of speed, laziness or boredom, then the time you spend leaving the message is wasted, as is the time of the person for whom you left the message. It doesn’t matter what your job or walk of life is ?” phone calls sales, management, civil servant, CSR?” if you waste peoples’ time it effects on some level how they view you.

It seems silly to tell people to speak clearly and slowly. But an enormous number of people talk way too fast, way to soft, talk ??mush-mouthed? or combine 2 or more of these traits to create a message they themselves couldn??t possibly understand. So yes, while it seems silly ? I??ll do it anyway. “At the tone, PLEASE, speak clearly and slowly.” It should take you between 8 and 10 seconds to say the number so that it is understandable. 16 to 20 seconds to say it twice.

Secret #1 to ensure your number is understandable. While you say your number ?” write it … neatly. Say your number NO FASTER than you can write it. Then repeat it. If you have no writing utensil, pretend to write it in the air.

Secret #2: Leave your phone number at the beginning of the message. In the event your target doesn??t get your number the first time they hear it, they don??t have to listen back through your whole boring message to get it.

Secret#3: Record yourself some day when you??re busy returning phone calls, making calls and leaving messages. Or, call yourself and leave a message. Then critique it. Then have a co-worker critique it.

These three little secrets can help increase your verbal legibility, make better use of your target’s time and increase your call-back rate. Listen to yourself ? you just might learn something.

Free Examples of Sales Letters

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

It is imperative for a web business owner or entrepreneur to effectively write a sales letter. The strength of your sales writing can affect whether fortunes will be made or lost online. You need to be able to convey a message that will convince your buyers to purchase your product. It doesn’t matter how great your product is, if you can’t write an effective sales letter, your buyers will never know what they’re missing. Here are some free examples of sales letter tips which will revolutionize your sales letter writing ability.

1) KNOW WHO YOU’RE WRITING TO

Understand who You’re Writing to & your Reason for Writing to Them: This is an extremely important step and is often overlooked. You must be able to understand who you’re writing to.

They don’t care about how wonderful your product is, they want to know, how will I benefit from this product? How will it make my life easier? When you’re writing, write about your potential buyers problems and challenges and not about your own personal excitement about the product.

2) CREATE A HEADLINE THAT STOPS THEM DEAD IN THEIR TRACKS

The headline is a crucial part of a sales letter and yet many web writers unfortunately just try to come up with something in a hurry. Think about it. If people aren’t interested in the headline, then why on earth would they want to continue reading?

How do you expect them to buy anything when they’ve already moved on? The headline needs to explain it all. Tell your buyers the crucial details such as what, how to, how many, whatever it is that may be considered crucial.

For example: How to ___ in 10 days or __ Steps to a New ___. Fill in the blanks with your product details. Write at least 100 different phrases similar to those mentioned. Adjust them to suit your needs and then select your top 20. Have someone else read them and have them select the top 10. Then find someone else, such as your kids, and have them decide the best one. Work hard and learn to create the best headlines.

3) CREATE A COMPELLING INTRODUCTION

In the introduction, introduce yourself to your readers. Write about your qualifications and your achievements. Discuss a problem, tell a story with a problem and then write about how your product is able to fix the problem and/or situation.

4) USE POWERFUL TESTIMONIALS

There’s a quote I heard that goes like this, “products tell, stories sell.” Make sure to include at least several testimonials (or stories) from various people who have purchased your product and were left satisfied. Include at least 3 and there is no maximum for the testimonials, the more the merrier!

5) BEST BENEFITS

Explain to your prospective buyers what this product will do for them. Write about how they will benefit from this product, how their life will improve as a result of buying this product. Don’t write about the product, write about your customer.

6) PROVIDE A 100% IRON CLAD MONEY BACK GUARANTEE

Offer an unconditional guarantee. Your online customer doesn’t know you and will probably never come face to face with you. So what makes you think that they can trust you? They can’t. But at least with an unconditional guarantee, they’ll feel more at ease and inclined to buy your product.

7) MAKE EASY FOR THEM TO PURCHASE

Make it easy as convenient as possible to purchase and ask for the sale: Give them details. Let them know how to order and when to expect delivery. Include several links and accept different methods of payment. Try to make it as simple as possible for them when they are buying, you want to have the least amount of clicks in order to make their final purchase.

So those are the steps to free examples of sales letters. Start writing your sales letter today. Don’t just stop at one. Write at least 1 a day for 1 month straight. After the month, re-examine all of your sales letters and take the best parts from each one and you will have a magnificent sales letter. With time and repetition, the process will become easier and you’ll be more comfortable with writing sales letters.

The Tools Needed for a Successful Home-Based Online Business

Keyword Research

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Out of the many aspects of Search Engine Optimisation, selecting good, well researched keyterms is of vital importance.

If you do not get your keywords right, then you can spend many, many hours working away raising your rankings for keyterms that nobody is typing into Google!! Keyword research is more than a small part of ethical seo, it is a whole subject in itself!

The ideal is to manage to find keyterms that have a high volume of monthly searches but low competition! Remember, just because a keyterm returns millions of results in Google it does not mean that it is a good keyterm, just a competitive one!

Another aspect of Keyterm research is long chain aka long tail keyterms. For example, you would think that ranking No.1 for the keyterm “mortgage” would be amazing! It has MILLIONS of results after all!

But the clever ethical SEO would be more bothered about ranking for “low rate mortgage”, “fixed term mortgage”, “variable rate mortgage” or “buy to let mortgage”. these keyterms are likely to have less competition, and are actually probably closer to what people are typing into google!

Finding keyterms that have low competition, but high search volume really is a skill of its own. Some people often use a keyword tool to help them.

A good SEO specialist will know what to do, and will often start by researching about your specific niche to give them a good understanding of your customer base before starting out on any seo campaigns for you.

Search Engine Optimization: Creative Ways To Acquire Natural Back Links

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Search engines use algorithms calculate the order in which the search results are displayed. Although no one outside the search engine companies know the actual algorithms, search engine optimization (SEO) experts agree that back links are heavily weighed. A ??back link? is text on another website that links to your site. Search engines count these links as ??votes? for your site. The more votes, the better.

Drumming Up Votes

The most common way to get back links it to simply ask another site to exchange links with yours. This is usually accomplished by sending a form email to webmasters who have similar content. This method results in many back links with the same anchor text (actual text that is linked) linking to your home page. If search engines were simply counting the number of back links and the keywords in the anchor text, this would be adequate.

However, as a result of this growing trend to manipulate the search engine results, the search engines have tweaked their algorithms. It is no longer enough to ask everyone to link back to your homepage with your keyword as the anchor text. Search engines are looking for more natural linking behavior, which is evident in sites linking to your internal pages with a wide variety of anchor text. There is also some evidence to suggest that links are weighed more heavily if they are not reciprocated.

Obtaining natural back links requires some creative linking strategies. If you want to continue requesting links and adding sites to your ??links? page, you will now have to send customized link exchange emails to each Webmaster, which takes more time and effort than a form email. Because only a small percentage of webmasters will reciprocate, you??re usually stuck with a very long list of links on your site. This can dilute your Page Rank and potentially classify your site as a link farm. Not to mention that you should be striving for one-way links, which none of these will be.

New websites face a unique challenge when it comes to requesting link exchanges. New sites have a Page Rank of 0. Most websites will only exchange links with sites that have a greater than or equal Page Rank. Page Rank is another variable in the search engine algorithm. The specifics are beyond the scope of this article, but you should know that Page Rank is determined by a variety of factors. One of which, is the number of back links from similarly themed pages with high Page Rank. The goal is to get many back links from pages with a high Page Rank. It??s a catch-22 that requires creative solutions. Thankfully, there are other ways to generate natural looking back links.

Content Syndication

Content syndication is a great way to get quality sites to link to yours without on-going effort required by link exchange requests. Simply post your articles to syndication sites. Be sure to include an ??About the Author? paragraph at the bottom with a link to your website.

Websites are always looking for quality content that is related to their theme and will happily link back to your site if allowed to syndicate your articles. This method of linking is superior to being placed on a list of links. You are not required to link aback and because your site will be the only outbound link on the page, your site will be the sole beneficiary of the Page Rank. The page your article is syndicated on will usually acquire the Page Rank of it??s domain, which means you could potentially get links from pages with very high Page Ranks without link back in exchange.

With this method, you??ll still run into the same problem of having a great deal of your back links using the same URL and anchor text. The problem can be overcome by editing your submitted articles on a monthly basis to change the URL and anchor text. The sites that are already syndicating your content will be using the old URL and anchor text while new sites use the new information. As long as your URL and anchor text changes periodically, you will have a wide variety of natural-looking back links.

Press Releases

Press releases are another great way to acquire natural, one-way back links. Whatever you??re doing can be announced in a new-worthy fashion. Is your company introducing a new product line, implementing a new business strategy, or helping to solve a community problem? If so, create a press release and tell the world. Try to submit a new press release each month. It will help keep the media attention on your business and establish your company as an authority.

As you can see, there are several ways to generate natural back links. Simply syndicate your content and submit press releases. With a little imagination and a bit of elbow grease, you can out rank your competition and leave them wondering how you did it.

Marketing In Today’s Competitive Market

Monday, May 26th, 2008

In today’s competitive market, it is absolutely essential that you figure out an inexpensive and effective way to market your product to your customers. If you are a small business, you may be wondering how this is possible when you do not have the budget to afford big-time advertising.

The world seems to be dominated by fast-moving visual images, giant billboards and two-page glossy spreads in magazines. As a small businessperson, how can you possibly compete with this relentless information blitz?

The answer is, don’t try to compete with this type of advertising at all. Don’t even contemplate it. Instead, beat the giant corporations at their own game simply by refusing to play in the same field. By using newsletters, you can leave blanket marketing to the big boys while you specialize in marketing to individuals. While they are hard at work dazing the masses with too much information, you are flying beneath the radar and using clarity and affability to increase your business - one customer at a time.

They work in terms of customer relations because they provide an intimacy that blaring announcements and flickering screen images never will. They allow a customer to absorb information on his or her own terms and to connect with your brand rationally and emotionally at his or her own pace. People recognize the voice of a real person behind the newsletter and find it easier to relate to that product than to one endorsed by a giant puppet, cartoon character or celebrity spokesman.

Newsletter advertising makes the customer feel as though he or she is still in control of what will happen during the buying experience. Customers don’t have to wait for the commercial to repeat itself or for that 1-800 number to flash on the screen again before they can find out more information about a product or service. If they are well written, they can easily refer customers to specific sections and bullet points to find out more. If your information is valuable or fills some kind of niche, customers will also “work” for you as unpaid advertising agents by sending it to other customers. This, of course, leads to repeat and referral business. Newsletters may seem old-fashioned, but in the age of dissonance and information overload they are one of the best ways to connect with a customer in a competitive market.

Earning Money With Adsense - Getting Started

Monday, May 26th, 2008

How can you add to your website’s earning potential?

It all starts when you realize that you can earn income by properly displaying Adsense ads on your pages. While most people are already aware of what Adsense is, more and more people are beginning to fully understand that a good amount of money can be generated from this revenue source.

First, let’s consider some basic principles. The Math. If you get anywhere from a few cents to a couple of dollar per click, then the more clicks the more money. That is Simple enough. Now the part many people forget. The more pages you have, the more pages people have access to click on, the more money. Try multiplying your per pages calculated amount by the number of pages you have to get a rough idea of the true potential of Adsense.

Google Adsense has become a relatively fast and easy method that website developers can use to offset costs, while providing ads that are relevant to their websites content. These ads are often of interest to the reader simply because they are based on what the reader is already searching for. This provides some income to them and a service to the users. This is one of the main reasons why you can both monetize and enhance your content pages with Adsense.

The potential income that can be generated is only limited to how much the advertisers are willing to pay, and how many clicks are generated. If the keywords the promoter has selected are in high demand, you could receive more dollars per click. On the other hand, low demand keywords will earn you just a few cents per click. These keywords can be as little as a few cents, to as high as $20 or $30 per click.

How to turn your website into an Adsense Machine

1: Visit Google.com/Adsense and sign up for your free account. Takes about 2 minutes.

2: Once your website has been accepted, you can generate Adsense code. You have the options to create display areas that fit your website. You can pick the colors, size, shape and types of ads being displayed.

3: Add the code to your website pages. You can insert Adsense code into as few or many pages as you wish. You can even add more then one Adsense block per page (up to three), and they can be different shapes, content or colors. Pick the blocks that work for your website. Google also offers ideas as to where to place them for better affects. This can be quite helpful to increase your clicks, and your revenues.

4: Publish your website with your new code added. Once your pages are live, you can start earning revenues from your Adsense blocks.

*Important Note* Google frowns on Click fraud. This is where you click on your own ads in your website in an attempt to earn income. Simple enough, don’t risk it.

5: Check your statistics by logging into your Adsense account. While you’re at it, consider adding the Google Analytics functionality to your website as well. Let the Adsense keep track of your earning and use Analytics to track your website traffic. They both go hand in hand, the more traffic, the more Adsense clicks you have potential for.

One thing you might wish to do is to look at other sites that are running Adsense. You might try to pattern your Adsense blocks in a similar fashion to those sites that are earning successfully. Position, size, and colors are all factors affecting how your website will perform and the amount of money it will give you.

It is a common issue that when a site begins earning money, the tendency is for the owner to try and “grind out” more money then they are already getting. Have some patience. It will usually take some time combined with trial and error to attain what you want for your Adsense contents.

How To Search Engine Optimize Your Website In Record Time

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

If you are going to start search engine optimization on your website you can follow these methods to start and do SEO the right way. These method will help you get ranked top in Google.

Step One

You need to research keywords. Start by finding four keywords that has maximum 3 million competing websites in Google. They must also have around 1000 searches a month. At first choose only four but later on you can choose many more keywords.

From the four keywords choose a main keyword.

Step Two

Create your website and add the meta tags. Then add at least one article apart from the content on the main page. If you have disclaimer, terms and conditions and similar types of links put the no follow tags on those links.

Put your main keyword at the bottom of the page, usually near CopyRight All Rights Reserved (c) main keyword goes here.

Do not put any links to other websites on your site. As you can see you should not take much time on this part of search engine optimization that is called the onpage optimization.

Step Three

Now start getting as many links as you can to your websites from other websites. This is called off page optimization and this what is going to really help your rankings.

You can do link exchanges or get one way links from sites like article directories, directories, social bookmarking sites, forums and many more sites where you do not need to link back to them.

When getting links do not always get links to your homepage. Sometimes get links to your article pages or any other page of your site. The anchor text should not always be the exact same text. Remember to input your keywords in your anchor text. Do not use same the same keyword all the time. Vary them as much as possible.

Get as many links as you can. The more the better. Now if you want to get ranked for more than four keywords you may want to hire someone to help you get links. The more keywords you target the more links you need.

As a rule get links from all sorts of sites as long as they are not banned from search engines. Check also that the link towards your site does not have the nofollow tags. There is a plugin called Search Status for Mozilla Firefox that will highlight links that are using the nofollow tags.

You need to get steady amount of links. The idea is to get same number of links everyday. The higher the number the better. Do not get a hundred today and nothing for the rest of the week. So if you are getting links and have not hired someone to help you, 15-30 links a day is a great.
