“Proven Advertising to Increase Traffic”

As I promised, first I’m going to tell you how to drive more traffic to your site, besides implementing the smart Search Engine Optimization (SEO). I will only give you the strategies that could give best results! Let’s not waste our time going over those useless advertising strategies, OK?

“Google AdWords”

SEO is the best strategy to advertise your site and it’s free. But, you do need some time to achieve the optimum position in Google. Following the steps I mentioned before in the previous lesson will basically get your site ranked high a lot faster.

I said “basically” because it also depends on the keyword or subject you pick. Remember the Supply and Demand concept? That’s why you have to make a good decision on your keyword from the beginning!

If you pick the wrong niche, then you would have to start all over again…

But, there is also a paid advertising you can use to get to the first result page in Google. It’s called Google AdWords. You’ve read my article on this, haven’t you?

Google has a system that makes it possible to advertise to millions of people. For the first time in the history of the world, you could depositfive bucks, write a couple of ads, and instantly get access to over 100 million people - in less than 10 minutes!

I’ve used Google’s AdWords system to generate traffic for my website, but it’s something you definitely need to get the hang of, and there are some techniques you need to know before it really performs for you.

It’s not always as easy as I just made it sound - AdWords has some nuances, and some people have a rough time at first.

Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising is among the most powerful way to promote your business and Google Adwords is the best one according to me. The navigation is easy, the terms and conditions is friendly and to my knowledge, until today as I write this course, there are about 25 million searches in Google for every single day…!

Google AdWords is too confusing for some marketers, because you must have a relevant pulling ad. But once you master the strategy, this kind of advertising could drive significant traffics to your site.

Sometimes, by tweaking your ad a little could make a huge difference in your CTR. You can also read many AdWords strategies in my articles collection, because we actually need a special lesson on this.

SEO and Google’s Website Optimizer

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

If you were to come across a website that said, ??Search Engine Optimization (SEO) made easy? you??d probably move along pretty quickly or your might stick around wondering if this statement is an oxymoron.

But what if the website making the claim was search engine giant ??Google??

This is the company that provides certain algorithms to help place new and existing site pages into their search engines. Why would they want to help you rank more highly?

Well, they can offer a support plan to help you and that does carry a fee, but you can put the product through a free test and see how it could potentially make your website more profitable. This tool helps you connect with both search engines and your customers by allowing you to see what combination of information is most appealing to consumers.

To review this tool visit http://services.google.com/websiteoptimizer/

Google has become the gold standard for SEO and being able to tap into the Google potential for best SEO results may make sense to many website owners.

Fully testing a website has been time consuming and has often required second-guessing. This web tool is touted as being able to reduce testing time and providing significant data to help you find the right marketing thrust for your website.

Admittedly it can seem a bit uncanny that Google has been able to establish so many elements to assist web users and site owners, but they have also been very open in working with other partners to establish something bigger than they could on their own.

The truth is Google now owns a major broadcasting automation program and that is allowing them to take their AdWords program and apply it to national radio broadcast advertising. Google continues to think outside the box and, generally speaking, most people benefit from their innovations.

In many of my other articles I have helped explain what Google and other search engines are looking for when they determine site rankings. The tool I mentioned above gives you a first hand glimpse at how close you came to meeting their objectives and how you might better be able to serve your customers and improve your online site??s ranking by making some adjustments.

I suppose this might even seem a bit like insider information, but in this case Google welcomes you to learn for yourself what you need to do to catch their attention and convert your site visitor to a paying customer.

I Want to Increase Page Rank - The Google Myth

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

In the search marketing world there is an addiction. It’s the focus on the this green blocks that appear on the Google toolbar that is know as Page Rank or PR. Due to the recent update of this counting system, which is powered by Google, its time to review the real understanding of PR. Some people are following mis-information which doesn’t really help them get a top ranking

Let’s look at the base of information that is Google PR. Much has been written and discussed. Google has used PR as a form of ranking and, for a long time is was seen as a major factor of getting results . If you search for increase page rank you will find many articles, features and opinions.

Enter 2007 and beyond, Google Page rank has spawned services who sell links, based on the page rank system. Some content sites with with good PR are selling focused keyword text links to those who want links, as a way of getting a higher ranking. Google has come out saying this is essentially attempting to “buy a ranking” to manipulate the search results. Also submission to search directories is seen as a valid way of gaining backlinks .Pricing can be based on the PR of the home page. Here is a statement you need to remember:

“Google ranks pages not web sites”

Remember when doing submissions to directory site and more importantly paid listings, it’s the Page Rank of the PAGE that the link is on, that is important. Keeping in mind that it the internal page has a good ranking, it should send traffic to your site too. It is possible for internal pages to gain a higher page rank than the home page. However keep in mind that if a site has page rank (of some amount) then it is seen as trusted source of information, both by visitors (if they are webmasters) and by Google

So is there a way to increase PR and your ranking?

Firstly don’t focus on PR- in can be fickle and misleading. It is subject to Google changing the rules, which they reduced several times - at least once a year. If you focus on creating reasons for Google search engine spider, to come back, that by itself will help with PR and ranking.

The simplest thing you can do is change and update your pages. Keeping your pages fresh will be seen as new content and bring back the Google spider. The more this happens, the more likely your PR will increase. This is why blogs (in general) do well in natural search results because they provide regular changing information. This may seem blunt, but Page Rank is not the key to rankings. You are best focused on building a site that is 100% search engine friendly and focusing on getting links - you can’t go wrong.

What You Need In Building A Site

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

People who want to have a website, blog etc. will need a web hosting organization which provides an Internet storage facility. If you want others to see your website you will need one of these and depending on whether it is a commercial site or not will dictate how much you pay but it is possible to have this at no charge (with restrictions). Hosting companies have their respective servers and disk spaces that act as data centers; the files relating to your website are stored in there, waiting to be retrieved when someone decides to check what your site has to offer.

Many types exist, some provide free hosting but with these types you pay the price of having restricted facilities that usually allow the likes of blogs, email and basic websites to be accessed. Many restrictions exist with free web hosting but that is to be expected and for some it is an ideal situation but for only a few dollars per month, a paid web hosting service is far superior. Hosting packages vary enormously and do not rely purely on the storage capacity available so the decision should be made relative to your particular needs.

Almost everyone starts out with what is termed ?shared hosting’ where the server is used by many. It is usually possible to upgrade to have a dedicated server for your files once you know the service provider is reliable; there is normally an additional charge for this facility. With web hosting you get your own web space, but you do need to have a registered domain before you can use it, then you are allocated with enough storage to keep all your files for online publication. All companies will allocate a certain amount of space for your website and any other files required to be stored there (photos and MP3 tracks, for example) and this can be anything from 500Mb or more, depending on the host and package you are paying for.

When you have a paid web hosting package it will allow you to have an email address using your domain name unlike those that are offered free with the likes of Google, Yahoo or MSN for example where their name is at the end of the email address. It always looks like the user is more serious about their internet presence if they have their own email and domain name, it increases credibility. The next thing to consider with your hosting package is how much information will be stored on the server that can be downloaded from your website as it will use a facility called bandwidth; the greater amount of files stored that can be accessed, the greater amount of bandwidth will be required.

If you only settle for a package with a minimum amount of bandwidth then there will be times when visitors will have trouble viewing your web site or using its facilities. If you only have a small site that does not have much on it then this probably won’t concern you but as soon as audio, video and hi-resolution images are incorporated, it becomes more of a concern. You may have your own web host in your PC, but that can be too risky; the best option is to settle for paid web hosting, even if you’re new to the internet.

How Marketing A Specific Product Is Far More Effective And Maximizing Profits Using Google AdSense

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Rather than trying to sell a whole catalogue of items focus on specific items. If you think about it logically people generally know what they are looking for, so when they type in ‘Orange Nokia N95′ then there is a very good chance you will be ranked highly because your page is dedicated to that product and is most relevant to the search. This page then becomes an entry page to your website.

When people search for specific products it generally means they are looking to buy it, the conversion rate in this sense is far higher than having a page displaying ‘mobile phones’.

Not everyone will buy obviously but if they don’t you can still make cash off of them. Because we have made the page specific to one product the Adsense ads will also be specific. Rather than go back to Google and re-do their search, what their looking for is right on your own page. Once they click one of those ads you get paid!

It really isn’t rocket science, but very little people use the Adsense program to its full extent.

Where to place your Adsense ads

Believe it or not people have researched our online viewing behaviour and have found some striking similarities in the way we view web pages.

The portion of the page we notice more than any other is the top left portion of the page. Then we notice logo, photo captions, and headline then we scan the page.

They have also found that we have trained ourselves to ‘block out’ horizontal banners (like the ones found on top of most major websites), for the simple reason that we have seen them for years and they’ve become like junk mail to us.

The most effective ads are text ads in a vertical skyscraper format. Text lists are also very effective. The key to Google Adsense success is to blend the links in with your sites theme. If your site has red text then blue links will stand out a mile.

Change the colour of the text to match the text of your site. It doesn’t have to be exact, just don’t let it stand out. You can do this by changing the pallet colours when you get your ads from Google.

How Do Search Engines Work - Web Crawlers

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

There are basically two types of search engines. The first is by robots called crawlers or spiders.

Search Engines use spiders to index websites. When you submit your website pages to a search engine by completing their required submission page, the search engine spider will index your entire site. A ?spider?? is an automated program that is run by the search engine system. Spider visits a web site, read the content on the actual site, the site’s Meta tags and also follow the links that the site connects. The spider then returns all that information back to a central depository, where the data is indexed. It will visit each link you have on your website and index those sites as well. Some spiders will only index a certain number of pages on your site, so don??t create a site with 500 pages!

The spider will periodically return to the sites to check for any information that has changed. The frequency with which this happens is determined by the moderators of the search engine.

A spider is almost like a book where it contains the table of contents, the actual content and the links and references for all the websites it finds during its search, and it may index up to a million pages a day.

Example: Excite, Lycos, AltaVista and Google.

When you ask a search engine to locate information, it is actually searching through the index which it has created and not actually searching the Web. Different search engines produce different rankings because not every search engine uses the same algorithm to search through the indices.

One of the things that a search engine algorithm scans for is the frequency and location of keywords on a web page, but it can also detect artificial keyword stuffing or spamdexing. Then the algorithms analyze the way that pages link to other pages in the Web. By checking how pages link to each other, an engine can both determine what a page is about, if the keywords of the linked pages are similar to the keywords on the original page

Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing - Is It The Same?

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

What is the difference between Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing? Is there any difference at all? Yes, there is a difference, although these 2 are often overlapping.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is by definition a professional technical skill which revolves around the way we code our website, and ensuring a particular website ranks well on the organic listing of major search engines, for a set of chosen keywords.

On the other hand, Search Engine Marketing (SEM) is to market a particular service or product through the major search engines, either by using pay-per-click, banners, etc. It will be somehow similar to physical marketing, whereby factors like brand, price, positioning and unique selling point become much more important.

For a business who wishes to establish its branding on the Internet, it will be silly to ignore the fundamental of search optimization even if they have the budget to drive traffic to their websites through pay-per-click programs like Adwords. To have a successful search engine marketing campaign, you will need both search optimization and pay-per-click.

A business can use search optimization to optimize a core set of keywords that are closely related to their business, while using Adwords to diversify into other market and creating more exposure for his or her business. As search optimization will usually takes months before one can see results, it will be wise for a business to use Adwords to target its core keywords at the beginning, until they are rank well on the organic listings.

In Search Marketing, we will be focusing more on keywords as we will need to bid for them. To have a successful search marketing campaign, you will need to find “long tailed keywords”, which refers to the larger selection of less frequently searched terms. For example, the keyword “search engine optimization” is considered a rather broad keyword, whereas the keyword “Singapore search engine optimization specialists services” is considered a long tailed keyword. Of course, for all keywords that you choose, you need to make sure that they have enough search volume to drive enough traffic to your website.

Traffic from the search engines definitely plays a very important part in your online success. The traffic generated from search engines are more targeted and you will be able to benefit from them by converting them into your opt-in subscribers, and thus into future customers.

Hope that now you have a clearer understanding between the difference between search engine optimization and search engine marketing.

Custom Radio and TV Spot Production - Custom Radio and TV Spots That Sizzle!

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

After being in business for any length of time, creating the edge, your niche and trying to bypass your competition while driving home your product and service can be a real challenge. It??s unfortunate that many products or services offered are the premier in their own field, but have failed for the exact reason that we are talking about here. Without the right advertising and growth, you might as well throw in the towel. With that being said, what is the best form of advertising and where does one get their biggest bang for the buck?

Obviously it??s different for each business and with their offering. As a general rule, direct mail has always done very well, but the costs can really add up after design and layout, printing, paying for the mailing lists, the bulk mail permit, and then the postage. It can really add up to big bucks. TV and radio present some unique advantages and then disadvantages as well. In order for your potential customer to reach you, you have to reach them ?” Usually through a number of radio and TV airings before you see a response. On the positive side, when these commercials are done right, being that they??re broadcast, the company can seem bigger than life. Let??s look at custom radio and TV spot production and look at effective ways to really get the results you??re after.

Your greatest challenge in creating a TV and/or radio spot is maintaining a workable budget. With that said, all to often, the small business owner, in an attempt to keep costs down and with what appears as an added benefit at the time of utilizing the in-house radio and TV cable??s voice over and production guy, miss the mark by a very large margin. The sales guy, in an attempt to get you to buy, encourages the less than savvy and able writing staff and in-house voice over guy with canned music, and lures in the unsuspecting customer that being you or the small business owner. Here in lies the problem.

Canned music and staff voice over talent are not held to the same standards as most of the professional music houses and production companies. While we are on the topic, when I mention professional, I??m not talking about the ??We??ll do your music and voice over for $399? company. I??m talking about a company that can produce your commercial for $1,500 - $2,000 in most cases that will more than create a sales effect paying for the commercial usually many times over ?” Thus you have obtained a much greater ROI than if you used the in-house creatives at the radio and TV cable companies.

I??m not trying to down anyone, and I know that there are a lot of very talented and able creative staff at radio and cable facilities. What I??m getting at though, is if you want a real credible commercial that will give you outstanding results, than be willing to pay a little more on the front end. Your sales numbers won??t lie. A well written, and well crafted and thought out commercial with great talent really does make a huge difference in your ROI ?” It??s that simple! Do it right!

Three Title Tips for YouTube Video

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Why would one lipstick video get thousands more views than another lipstick video? Could it be the words “luscious lips” in the title? Why would one sewing video get thousands more views than another? Could it be the words “how to” in the title?

Welcome to the ever growing competition of video marketing on the internet. After you make your video and upload it, you’ll be able to track your number of views. If users like your video, they’ll comment on it, add it to their favorites, and subscribe to your channel or blog. But how can you get your video in front of them so that they know how great it is and do all those actions? Enter the skill of weaving a title for your video.

Take some time to do some keyword research on popular keyword tools such as Wordtracker.com and SEO Book Keyword Suggestion Tool. Both have free tools that can help you find exactly the right words that people are using to find the subject of your video. Keep a spreadsheet of this information for yourself, as it will include keywords that will give you more ideas for future videos.

Now, search your favorite video sharing sites, such as YouTube.com, and look at the search results. Which videos had more views? Which had less views? While it is not solely based on titles, you will notice that there are patterns to what videos in a given keyword search get the most views.

Here are your three tips to writing your video title:

  1. Use your keywords — If your video is about sushi, make sure it says so in your title.
  2. Use adjectives to spice it up. If your sushi is easy and delicious, say so in your title. Remember, you have to get someone’s attention with that title.
  3. Experiment. Not getting views? Go into your video sharing account and edit the video title. Add a “How to” or change the order of the words in your title. See what gets more views.

Besides the title, you will want to pay attention to the description or summary, as the text is what brings in searches at first. Then as your comments, ratings, and other Web2.0 indicators rise, your video will rise to the top of the video search results.

Make sure your video is good quality, interesting, and gives your viewers what you promise. Promise it in your title. Robin Brown makes video sewing tutorials.

Google Adsense Policies

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

Google Adsense is a program that allows businesses to advertise on other websites. They business only pays the host website when a consumer clicks on the link to take them to their website. This is a very effective way of advertising because of the millions of people who access the internet every day. It is also a low cost marketing method that businesses of all sizes can benefit from. Websites are eager to host advertisements for other businesses because it doesn??t cost them anything and they earn money for doing it when consumers choose to follow the link from a particular advertisement.

If you are interested in using Google Adsense to advertise then you need to make sure you are aware of their policies. This will make the process smoother for you and eliminate any misunderstandings down the road. This can be a great money maker or advertising tool, but only when it is used correctly.

There is no long term contract with Google Adsense. You can choose to leave the program at any time. You will need to provide written notice by mail or email to Google. All ads will be removed from your website within ten days. They also have the right to discontinue your business from the program at any time for not following their policies. You do have the right to file an appeal if your account is canceled. This gives you the opportunity to discuss the situation with a Google Adsense representative.

You must be approved by Google Adsense before you are allowed to be a part of the program either as a host site for advertisements or to post your ads. The owner of the website must be at least 18 years of age. The approval process involves an application that you complete with information on your website including keywords. You will have a response to your application within two days. Make sure it is completed entirely or your application will be denied.

All communications must take place with Google. This means if you have concerns or issues about an advertisement your business has on a website or about an ad you are hosting on your website everything goes through Google. The two businesses are not to discuss the issue between each other. Google does not guarantee a set amount of clicks or earnings for a host website. It also doesn??t guarantee any increase in traffic or sales for a business.

Google Adsense has the right to use the name of businesses participating in the program for presentations, marketing, and financial reports. Users of Google Adsense are required to pay for the amount of pay per clicks their ads received as outlined. Adsense accounts are non-transferable under any circumstances. They can??t be resold to another provider. A maximum of three ads per webpage can be displayed. Advertisements can??t be placed on webpages that don??t contain content for your website. A webpage can??t be used for the sole purpose of displaying ads to make money.

Click fraud is not acceptable at all by Google Adsense. It damages the reputation of the program and costs the advertisers a great deal of money. Any website hosting advertisements that is believed to be involved in Click Fraud will be banned from using the program. If you chose to use Google Adsense to advertise your business, protect it from Click fraud by purchasing Click Fraud software.

Google Adsense is a great opportunity for businesses to advertise their products and services on various websites and pay only for the number of consumers who click on the link to go to that businesses website. It is also a great way for a business to make money by hosting advertisements for other businesses. Understanding the policies of Google Adsense will help you determine if the program is right for you. It also helps the program work properly for all those involved in it.
